Day 34 and 35
Every morning as I grab my fresh hot cup of coffee I carefully watch out for a pair of coyotes in my backyard. I am wary of them. I’m wondering how I would chase them off if they chose to attack my neighbor’s cats who like to sit on the fence.
I live at the far northwest edge of Calgary. There’s a huge open field behind our backyard fence where Stony Trail is being developed. So far wild animals still wander on the berme. We do have good animal control laws but our wildlife department thinks it’s alright to allow coyotes to roam so close to our pets.
In The Lion Tree at http://ruthwillms.com/theliontree.html I write about a lion, another predator. Although the lion in my book is tame he plays a very important role in controlling other animals, but not attacking them or having them for lunch. In my story God has put this ferocious lion in a special place, a lion tree, where wildlife officers have no access or authority. It’s a special place where Darian and Cassidy go to roam the mountains, riding on his back, clinging to his mane. He brings them to adventure they never thought possible.
Do you know God taught Moses animal control laws? You can read about God’s kind of animal laws in Exodus 22: 1 to 15. God created the animals and loves them so put strict rules in place for their protection and He wants us to take good care of them too.
“A good man is concerned for the welfare of his animals.” Proverbs 12:10 [The Living Bible]

I want to walk with you spiritually this year, inviting you to read the Bible through from cover to cover; from Genesis 1 all the way to Revelation 22:21. If that sounds too difficult for you and your kids, you can join in again after you have taken a break or join us for the days you’re up to it. We will start on Sunday, January 18th and finish Saturday, January 16, 2010. I promise that you will understand the Bible in a much deeper way if you read it through from cover to cover in a year’s time.
Accept my challenge to read the Bible through in one year chronologically, including the Old and the New Testament.
I’m going to give you an extra challenge for the next few days only. We need to read 2 days readings each day until we catch up on the right day of the year, so we can finish by December 31, 2009.
Day 34: Today read:
Exodus 17:8-19:15
Matthew 22:34-23:12
Psalm 27:7-14
Proverbs 6:27-35
Day 35:
Exodus 19:16-21:21
Matthew 23:13-39
