Learn How to Make the Bible Real to Your Children

Five Ways to Deepen Your Friendships

I once had a friend who confided in another friend completely.  She told this friend her soul’s deepest secrets.  Then this friend misconstrued her thoughts and spilled them to the church board to make points.  Eventually the whole church heard about them.  I hope your friends have never betrayed you.

I am blessed with some very true blue friends. The Bible has a lot to say about friends. One of them is that in order to have friends one must show herself friendly. Here are some special ways.

1Treat your friendship with top priority.
2)Be transparent so you can truly know each other.
3)Communicate warmth; tell your friend how special she is to you.
4)Don’t just say ‘I care’ but show your friend you care by doing special things for her, like giving her gifts, giving her a     hug.
5)Don’t be possessive of your friend, give her space.

Jesus is and always has been the best friend of everyone. “There are ‘friends’ who pretend to be friends, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24 [The Living Bible].   This verse says a lot to me about Jesus because my brothers are special to me and close.  It’s comforting to know that Jesus cares about me like they do and much more.

I want to walk with you spiritually this year, inviting you to read the Bible through from cover to cover; from Genesis 1 all the way to Revelation 22:21.  If that sounds too difficult for you and your kids, you can join in again after you have taken a break or join us for the days you’re up to it.  We will start on Sunday, January 18th and finish Saturday, January 16, 2010.  I promise that you will understand the Bible in a much deeper way if you read it through from cover to cover in a year’s time.

Accept my challenge to read the Bible through in one year chronologically, including the Old and the New Testament.

I’m going to give you an extra challenge for the next few days only. We need to read 2 days readings each day until we catch up on the right day of the year, so we can finish by December 31, 2009.

Day 40: Today read:
Exodus 29:1-30:10
Matthew 26:14-46
Psalm 31:19-24
Proverbs 8:14-26

Day 41:
Exodus 30:11-31:18
Matthew 26:47-68
Psalm 32:1-11
Proverbs 8:27-32
